Revenue analytics (VIP)

On the VIP plan the Revenue tab of Monetization shows where your income comes from: over time, by piece of content, by country and by traffic source, together with subscription figures such as MRR and churn and the checkout funnel. Every section can be downloaded as a CSV file. The same figures are available through the Partner API (see With the API below).

Who gets what

  • Revenue analytics (plan flag revenueAnalytics): VIP only. On FREE, STAR and PRO the tab opens and shows a notice that revenue analytics is not part of the plan, with a See plans button; no figures are sent to the page.
  • A team member who works in someone else's channel needs the permission to view billing. The figures are the channel owner's, and the owner's plan decides whether they are shown.

In the dashboard

Open Monetization in the dashboard and choose the Revenue tab.

The buttons 7 days, 30 days, 90 days and Year set the period, and the date picker sets any other. The tab opens on the last 90 days, and a period may span at most 366 days.

Group by Day, Week or Month decides the bars of the chart; the tab opens grouped by week. Days are cut at midnight in your browser's time zone.

What the tab shows

  • Four cards: Gross with the number of payments, Net after fees and refunds, MRR (the monthly recurring revenue of the active subscriptions, with its net amount and the number of active subscribers) and Churn (subscribers who cancelled in the period against those active at its start).
  • Net revenue by kind of sale: bars for each day, week or month, split into Video, Live stream, Course, Tip, Booking and Subscription.
  • Top content: up to 20 items with their kind, sales, gross, refunds, net and average sale.
  • Subscriptions: new and cancelled subscribers, churn, revenue per paying subscriber, trials converted to paid, and MRR.
  • Checkout funnel: checkouts opened, paid, expired and still open, with the conversion, and the same for up to 20 items of content.
  • Countries and Traffic sources: paid orders and the amount charged. The source is the utm_source of the link; without one it is the website the buyer came from, and without that it is Direct.

How the figures are counted

  • Amounts are in US dollars. Only USD payments are added up; payments in other currencies are counted apart, never converted and never added to the sums.
  • One-off sales come from your sales ledger and subscriptions from their paid invoices. The total of a period is the same figure as the revenue on the Overview tab for the same dates: both read the same records with the same fee rule.
  • Net is gross minus the fees that were kept and minus refunds.

CSV files

Every section has a CSV button. The file follows the period and grouping on the screen and is named revenue-SECTION-FROM-TO.csv, with the first and last day of the period. The columns are:

  • trend: period, kind, gross_usd, fees_usd, refunds_usd, net_usd, payments, new_subscribers, canceled_subscribers, mrr_usd; one row for all kinds together and one for each kind of sale.
  • content: kind, id, title, gross_usd, fees_usd, refunds_usd, net_usd, sales, refunded_sales, average_sale_usd.
  • funnel: kind, id, title, orders_opened, orders_paid, open, expired, failed, refunded, conversion_pct.
  • countries: country, paid_orders, amount_usd; a payment without a known country is written as unknown.
  • sources: source, paid_orders, amount_usd.

With the API

The Partner API returns the same figures as the Revenue tab with two calls. GET /api/v1/analytics/revenue returns JSON for a period (from, to, granularity day, week or month, and tz in minutes; at most 366 days), and GET /api/v1/analytics/revenue.csv?section=trend|content|funnel|countries|sources returns one section as a CSV file. Both need the VIP plan (otherwise the answer is 403 PLAN_UPGRADE_REQUIRED) and either the channel owner's key or a key with the finance:read permission (otherwise 403 FINANCIAL_SCOPE_REQUIRED). A short revenue summary is also returned by the Monetization API, and revenue totals for a period are part of the CSV report described in Analytics reports.
